This Act establishes a framework for regulating and maintaining high standards in education and professional services for Allied and Healthcare professionals. It ensures proper assessment of institutions, maintains Central and State Registers, and promotes research, development, and adoption of modern scientific advancements to improve healthcare accessibility and quality.
Allied and Healthcare Professional Categories
The following are the ten major categories of allied and healthcare professions recognized under the Act:
Medical Laboratory and Life Sciences Professionals
Trauma, Burn Care and Surgical / Anesthesia Technology Professionals
Community Care and Behavioral Health Sciences Professionals
Medical Radiology Imaging and Therapeutic Technology Professionals
Medical Technology – Physician Associate Professions
Health Information and Health Informatics Professionals
Dialysis Therapy Technology & Dialysis Therapy
Tamil Nadu State Allied and Healthcare Council
The Tamil Nadu State Allied and Healthcare Council (TNSAHC) is a statutory body constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the provisions of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, 2021. The council has been established to regulate and promote high standards in allied and healthcare education, professional practice, and institutional quality across the state.
TNSAHC plays a vital role in ensuring that allied and healthcare professionals are properly trained, registered, and qualified to provide safe and effective healthcare services. The council is responsible for maintaining a State Register of professionals, overseeing the recognition and assessment of educational institutions, and ensuring that the curriculum and training programs meet national standards.
Through its regulatory framework, the council also encourages research, professional development, and the adoption of modern scientific advancements in healthcare. By strengthening education, professional ethics, and institutional accountability, TNSAHC aims to improve the overall quality, accessibility, and reliability of healthcare services for the people of Tamil Nadu.
